about
After years of crafting her own songs, performing live, and drip-feeding her music online, Davidda released her single 'Slow Turn' in December 2022.
In early 2022, Davidda joined forces with Anna Coddington to write some demos with the help of NZ on Air Music Development funding. Slow Turn was the first tune to sucker punch its way out of those sessions.
With Davidda playing drums and bass, Anna on production, Jol Mulholland adding guitars, and a fruity sprinkling of synths courtesy of Lips, this upbeat single makes light of the uncertainty of emerging from pandemic lockdowns and disruptions. It explores some of the emotions born out of that time.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Got me feeling dizzy
Resting in the panic
Paralysed mind, busy
Trying to find a way out
Slow wave when it hits me
It's a mystery I can't solve
I want to see the crowd
But I want to go home
Pre-Chorus:
Loosen up my limbs to take the
World by storm or storm the pavement
I'm not sure if I love or hate it
Chorus:
Do you think you can help me navigate
I want to go forward
but as time moves on I stay
On a slow turn, slow burn
Stuck in a stop start place
Trying to make sense
Of a world that's out the gate
Verse 2:
We can't return the lemon
But we can sip on the lemonade
I was afraid of everything that slowed my pace
The sentiment of betterment is singing me down the aisle
This is where I reconcile
Chorus:
Do you think you can help me navigate
I want to go forward
but as time moves on I stay
On a slow turn, slow burn
Stuck in a stop start place
Trying to make sense
Of a world that's out the gate
Bridge:
Do you think
Do you think
Chorus:
Do you think you can help me navigate
I want to go forward
but as time moves on I stay
On a slow turn, slow burn
Stuck in a stop start place
Trying to make sense
Of a world that's out the gate
